The Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) invitation to Ambassador Marco Lombardi to Iringa for further exploring cooperation with Italian Universities, in particular Brescia Catholic University and Palermo and Turin universities, represented an opportunity to visit a dynamic region of the Southern Highland of Tanzania. During his mission, Lombardi met with Iringa Regional Commissioner, Hon. Queen Cuthbert Sendiga, with whom had a discussion on the state of art of the economic cooperation with Italy and, in particular on the recent Italian industrial investment in Kylolo. He also thanked Iringa for welcoming so well the local big Italian Community. During the 4 days mission, the Ambassador has visited the projects of Italian missionaries and NGOs. The field visits to health projects of CUAMM, Sant’Egidio, Co.Pe., ASVET and those in social, training and agricultural fields of Consolata, CEFA, Nyumba Ali, and Africa Chiama underlined the important role of Italian Episcopal Conference, Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and italian volunteers in the development of a growing region like Iringa. During the RUCU University conference, Ambassador Lombardi met with Iringa Archbishop, His Grace Tarcisius Ngalalekumtwa, that wanted to express a big thank you to Italian Episcopal Conference, volunteers and all Italian Church for the great contribution to the development of this area of Tanzania.
