At the 40th General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) held in Montreal on 28 September, Italy was re-elected as a member of the ICAO Council Part One for the 2020-22 mandate, with 160 out of 168 votes, being together with China the most voted country. Other members elected to Council Part One (which includes the states of chief importance to air transport) are Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, and the United States. ICAO manages the international aviation industry, offering the legal and technical framework without which no flight could happen with such regularity and frequency as in today’s world. Italy has been a member of the Council since its inception, thanks to the importance of our aviation industry and to our unrelenting commitment to increase the quality and security of air transport.
