On Wednesday 22nd May at the Minister of Foreign Affairs Enzo Moavero Milanesi introduced the Second Report on Italy within the framework of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), which provides for periodic audits for all State Parties.
This second evaluation cycle showed a largely favourable outcome. Progress made in the fight against corruption in all its forms and some good practices were also recognized.
This is a great result which rewards the strenuous efforts by successive Italian governments to rein in corruption, through prevention and repression, changes in legislation to fight new type of corruption, and the active involvement of media, companies and citizens.
