The AT KEARNEY Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Confidence Index 2018, ranks Italy among its top ten investment destinations. Italy that a few years ago was not even included in the Index. Foreign investments in its broadest definition have indeed picked up in Italy. This happened thanks to the plans and fiscal policy framework adopted. Today the effective tax rate for Italian business is well below the European average, especially corporate taxes such us the labor tax wedge and the corporate tax rate that passed from 27.5 to 24 percent. Efforts have also been made to attract human capital. Professionals moving to Italy can benefit from an interesting set of tax breaks; in addition, fast-track visa application procedures for investors, philanthropists, and start-uppers have been envisaged.
