Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How to Obtain the Declaration of Value

Each Italian university will indicate on the UNIVERSITALY portal whether a Declaration of Value for the foreign qualification is required.

The Declaration of Value can be requested through the Information Centre on Academic Mobility and Equivalence (CIMEA):
https://www.cimea.it

Alternatively, it may be requested from the Embassy of Italy in Dar es Salaam for educational or professional qualifications obtained abroad within its jurisdiction. For further details, please refer to the dedicated page: Request for a Declaration of Value for Study Purposes.

How to Apply for a Visa

Once pre-enrolment has been confirmed on the UNIVERSITALY portal, applicants will receive a confirmation email from noreply@cineca.it.

Upon receipt of this email, students may submit the required documentation to this Embassy in order to apply for a study/university visa.

For further details on the visa issuance procedure, please consult the dedicated page: Study Visa.

How to Obtain a Tax Code (Codice Fiscale)

Students who do not already have a Codice Fiscale may use the code automatically generated by the UNIVERSITALY portal for the purpose of pre-enrolment.

The Embassy will not issue a Codice Fiscale within the framework of the pre-enrolment procedure via the UNIVERSITALY portal.

The official assignment of the Codice Fiscale will be finalised by the Immigration One-Stop Desk (Sportello Unico per l’Immigrazione) or by the Police Headquarters (Questura) when applying for a residence permit, as indicated in the Tax Code Mini Guide for Foreign Nationals published by the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate).

In any case, foreign nationals legally residing in Italy who do not yet have a tax code may request one at any office of the Italian Revenue Agency.
