To apply for a visa, it is necessary to book an appointment.
Appointments can only be booked through the Prenot@mi online portal, following registration on the platform and the instructions provided for visa services.
Please note that appointments for visa services may only be booked on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Visa applications submitted on days not designated for visa services will not be accepted for processing.
Due to the high volume of applications, applicants are strongly advised to check appointment availability well in advance and, where appropriate, reserve an appointment slot before completing the collection of the required documentation. However, all supporting documents must be submitted in person at the visa desk on the day of the appointment
Please also note that visa applications will be considered admissible only if they meet the requirements set out in Article 19 of Regulation (EC) No. 810/2009 (Visa Code) and are accompanied by the supporting documents required under the applicable legislation.
In order to ensure proper processing of the application, a minimum interval of 15 days between the appointment date and the intended date of departure is required. Should this requirement not be met, the Visa Office reserves the right not to accept the application, even where a valid appointment has been booked.
In cases of duly documented urgency, applicants may submit a request to cons.dar@esteri.it, attaching all relevant supporting documentation.
On the day of the appointment, applicants must appear in person at the Consular Chancery of the Embassy of Italy in Dar es Salaam, bringing their appointment confirmation, all required supporting documentation (available in the section “Choose the right visa based on your needs and check the documents required”), and their original passport, which will remain in the custody of the Embassy until the visa assessment process has been completed.
The Consular Chancery is located at Lugalo Road 316, Upanga, Dar es Salaam, P.O. Box 2106, and is open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The procedures described above constitute the only valid means of applying for a visa to Italy.
Anyone claiming to be able to facilitate the booking of an appointment or to expedite or guarantee the issuance of a visa in exchange for payment must be regarded as a fraudster. Such incidents should be reported to the competent authorities and notified to cons.dar@esteri.it.
Applicants are therefore strongly advised not to rely on intermediaries who claim to be able to facilitate or accelerate the appointment booking process and/or the issuance of a visa.
For information on the type of visa required according to the purpose of travel, please consult the “Visa for Italy” portal and the “Types of Visa and Duration” section of this website.
Each applicant must submit a visa application by completing the relevant application form in all its parts, in a single copy, and attaching one passport-sized photograph.
Specific supporting documentation is required for each visa category. The Embassy reserves the right to carry out further checks and to request additional documentation where necessary.
