TOWARD COP26 IN GLASGOW: SCREENING OF THE ITALIAN MOVIE “TRASH” ON ECOLOGY AND SUSTAINABILITY.

The Embassy of Italy, in the framework of his culture promotional activities, screened in Dar es Salaam the Italian animated movie “Trash” on ecology and sustainability. Many students from local high schools and universities attended the event. The Tanzania Youth for Climate Delegates 2021 Careen Joel Mwakitalu e Humphrey Mrema also attended the event. On the occasion, they have presented the document “Proposal for Climate Change and Circular Economy Outreach”. British High Commissioner, H.E. Ambassador David Concar, in his remarks, presented the goals of the next COP26 that will be held in Glasgow from October 31 to November 13, 2021. Ambassador Marco Lombardi has illustrated Italian projects against climate change in Tanzania and in particular the success story of the Italian company Carbonsink that, in cooperation with Carbon Tanzania, has a REDD+ project in Ufinza and Tanganika districts that, thanks to avoided deforestation, allows the issue of carbon credits that are sold to Italian and European companies. More than 150 thousand people living in the districts are partnering with Carbonsink. Lombardi underlined that these projects are in line with the Italian G20 Presidency priorities “People, Planet and Prosperity”. This event is also part of the V edition of the sustainable development festival promoted by the Italian Alliance for sustainable development (ASVIS).
