PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS TO THE EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY

Ambassador Marco Lombardi presented today in Arusha his credentials to the Secretary General of the East African Community, Hon. Peter Mathuki that wanted to thank the Italian Government for the important outcomes of the Ministerial Meeting “Encounters with Africa” held in Rome on 7 and 8 October 2021. Hon. Mathuki underlined the importance of a Memorandum of Understanding with Italy in fields of environment, energy, health and education. Lombardi underlined that representing Italy in EAC is a big honor. He also stressed the importance of regional integration and made the example of the European Union that brought to Europe and unprecedented time of progress, development and welfare. He also informed that AICS (Italian Agency for Development Cooperation) is committed in regional programs in the field of health that aim to create cooperation and best practices among East African Countries. Hon. Mathuki, in underlining that EAC looks at EU as a model, wanted to thank Italy for the important partnership with the East African Community.
