LAUNCH OF THE NEW HOTEL ASSOCIATION ZANZIBAR (HAZ)

Ambassador Marco Lombardi, together with the Second Vice President of Zanzibar, H.E. Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, participate, last 19 June, in the launch of the new Hotel Association of Zanzibar (HAZ) whose members are some of the most significant tourist companies on the Island. The 70% of the members of the new Association are Italian companies and the Chairman of HAZ is Mr. Paolo Rosso from Alpitour. The goal of HAZ is to further increase the touristic sector in Zanzibar. Ambassador Lombardi, in welcoming the new Association, said that tourism represents a very important economic collaboration on a win-win basis between Italy and Tanzania. Tourism, he continued, accounted for 82% of FDI in Zanzibar and Italian entrepreneurs contribute in an important way to the investments in this sector. At the same time Italians going to Zanzibar provide more than 20.000 jobs in Italy.
