\u201cThe Italian National Day was celebrated with a reception at the residence of the Ambassador Giuseppe Coppola, attended by more than 700 guests, including representatives of Tanzanian authorities, the business and cultural world, civil society, the diplomatic community, and compatriots present in the country.
\nQuoting President Sergio Mattarella, Ambassador Coppola recalled that the birth of the Republic on 2 June 1946 was the \u2018fruit of a choice of peace, freedom, independence\u2019, those same ideals pursued by Tanzania in its independence process in 1961.
\nThe Ambassador reiterated the Italian government\u2019s interest in further strengthening bilateral relations, as demonstrated by the recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in the defence sector, and emphasised the role of the dynamic \u2018people-to-people\u2019 relations developed in the 64 years of diplomatic relations.<\/p>\n

H.E. Dr. Damas D. Ndumbaro, Minister for Constitutional and Legal Afffairs of the United Republic of Tanzania, confirmed that Italy, among the first countries to recognise Tanganyika\u2019s independence in 1961, has been and still is \u2018a valuable and reliable partner in Tanzania\u2019s development path\u2019, as also demonstrated by its recent inclusion among the priority countries of the Mattei Plan. The event, organised with the support of numerous Italian companies, also made it possible to highlight the role of Italian companies in Tanzania as part of the economic diplomacy action promoted by the embassy, from a \u2018Sistema Paese\u2019 perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n
