External Trade Moves to Foreign Affairs Ministry

After many years of discussions, external trade and the promotion of Italian companies abroad will be under the Ministry of foreign affairs starting January 1, 2020. Preparations are already underway for the shifting of competences and people, which will involve a restructuring of the offices in the โ€œFarnesinaโ€ headquarters. The goal is to create a unified policy and operational centre in order to offer better support to Italian companies wishing to trade and invest outside the country.

In the past 20 years, Embassies and Consulates have already become the indispensable driving force for the expansion of our business in the world. With the inclusion of external, the network will be able to deliver better results more effectively. Under Foreign Affairs will operate also the Italian Trade Commission, which organises every year hundreds of commercial missions, promote the participation in Italian and foreign fairs and connects thousands of potential business partners from Italy and abroad.
